The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of an area of disturbed weather near 14.4°N, 55.9°W or approximately 360 miles east north east of St Vincent & the Grenadines.
Although the centre of this disturbance is forecast to move over the Northern Leeward Islands, instability associated with this system is expected to produce winds of approximately 16 to 28 mp/h (25 to 45km/h) with higher gusts and pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorm activity. Rainfall accumulations of 75mm (approximately 3 inches) are possible through Wednesday with isolated higher amounts in mountainous areas. Thus, a Flash-Flood Watch is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines from 6:00 p.m today, July 28th 2020 until 12:00 noon Wednesday 29th July 2020.
Residents and motorist in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should exercise caution.
A Flood-Watch is issued when conditions are favourable and there exists the possibility of flooding during the watch period.
This flood watch may be upgraded to a warning if conditions warrant.
