It appears as though the NDP has boxed itself in uncomfortably on the Taiwan/China issue. It does not look good that for a party that it is trying to steal the hearts and minds of the Vincentian public, on an important foreign policy matter, they continue to play hide and seek.
I have asked the question before, and I will continue doing so until the NDP feels it fit to tell us, “what really ah gwarn with them and China”.
It has to be equally disingenuous for NDP candidate Fitz Bramble to say when questioned in a radio interview on the matter, “this is not the time and place for that, I came here to talk about East Kingstown”. Well Mr. Bramble, the young and bright talents in East Kingstown do not wish to study in Taiwan?
The question has been forcibly put to Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Godwin Friday who was even more reticent. The question then is, if not now, when will the NDP find it fit to tell us what will be their foreign policy position in government?
What is worse is that after Dr. Friday’s poor performance on the issue, it shows that party still lacks political savviness as they have chosen deliberately to obfuscate. Well the hundreds of Vincentians likely to be impacted by their decision will be emphatic and clear in their choice.
They cannot say they were not warned.
