At the Unity Labour Party (ULP) final National Council meeting before the next general elections, Political Leader of the party called out persons who have criticised the candidates put forward by the party.
“This is a bit of nostalgia for me because this is the last time I will preside at a National Council meeting where candidates for a general elections have been selected”.
“Everybody who has been selected has the most important quality, love for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines”.
Turning his attention to South Leeward candidate Dr Mineva Glasgow, PM Gonsalves lambasted persons who had made disparaging comments about her.
“There is a has-been who put on Facebook…that how could Mineva love people when she don’t have a child, that she is childless.”
“You ever hear such utter rubbish, misogyny? I want ask you this, How Mother Teresa who never had a child loved and worked with hundreds of millions of people in India to uplift the poor?”
“How many, many women all over the world who don’t have children make sure that others are like their children and take care of them.”
“Monty say somebody hack, somebody go hack Monty phone?” Monty is not a factor, but it just shows the mindset inside the NDP. How they want to run down Curtis, how they want to devalue Orando and how they want to be sickening.”
Gonsalves who said Dr Mineva Glasgow was royal and a queen went on further to tongue lash New Democratic Party (NDP) Public Relations Officer Lavern King. He said:
“Imagine you are a woman and even women could be a misogynist. The first thing she did when ‘Minnie’ was sworn-in in parliament, she congratulated Minnie for wearing the same frock she did wear a year ago.”
“Anybody ever watch jacket and pants that Ralph, Arnhim and Friday wear a year ago? No. That is where her mind is. Whether it is woman or a has-been like Monty, it is the same philosophical premise from which they move because they don’t have any real progressive philosophical guidance”.
“They are a rag-tag group of electoral elites seeking to put their hands on the treasury of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”
