KINGSTOWN, SVG (BreadFruit News) – Amidst accusations that his party has not done anything over the past 19 years, a defiant Prime Minister rebuked opposition critics for trying to deceive the public with such untruthful claims.
In his hometown last weekend, The ULP leader quizzed the crowd on projects in the Georgetown community that his administration had completed:
“Who fix up the playing field and make it a modern playing field? The Unity Labour Party government!”
“Who build the SMART hospital? The Unity Labour Party government!”
“Who build the $50 million dollars medical complex which the NDP opposed? The Unity Labour Party!”
“And that is only some of the things. Well I only talk about Georgetown and if I talk about some the other things, we will stay here all night and I don’t want we stay all night because I want hear Luta, and Shaunelle and Fireman. And I want hear Skinny too.”
“When you go pass all what people say, basically, what you have to decide in your mind, you say, is the comrade committed to us and St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the answer you have to say is yes.”
“I have been a political activist for 52 years. There is nobody else in politics in St Vincent who has participated as a candidate in every single election since Independence. 41 years, that why I tell you I am an ancient warrior.”
The man who eclipsed former Prime Minister Sir James Mitchell to become the longest serving prime minister in the history of St. Vincent and the Grenadines said that he believed that God has ordained people to do certain things.
“Whatever I have been doing is not just Ralph. No, I have been doing it and doing the work that God has shaped me and made sure I had the training to do. I went through a lot of rough times you know, real rough times.”
He declared at the public rally which featured whistle stops across his constituency:
“I have given my life to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines. And I have been blessed by the confidence that you have put in me. You twist me up, you do all kind of thing with me and you say well boy, I going see how this one going and when you were satisfied that I was not fake, that I was the genuine article, you say I am going to help lift up Ralph. I am going to put him as Prime Minister and for the last 20 years, we have worked together in communion with one another.”
“I meet the glass empty and I poured water over the last twenty years and make the glass three quarters full, all the NDP could concentrate on is the quarter I didn’t full.”
“I am asking you to let me finish fulling the glass, having done the three quarter.”
