Some party supporters and critics have been questioning the silence of Opposition Leader Dr Godwin Friday who has not been seen in public since elections day.
Friday who led the party for the first time suffered a 9-6 defeat to the incumbent Dr Ralph Gonsalves led administration.
Traditionally, all political leaders will make a statement following the elections results. In the case of the loser, the expected norm has been a concession speech sometime thereafter.
Political observers note that Dr Friday and the New Democratic Party Facebook pages which were very active during the campaign have gone silent since the vote. The party has not officially said thank you to its supporters on social media or issued a statement conveying any hope to the record number of persons who supported the party this time around.
One person speaking to Breadfruit News told us that the result has produced a divide between the Grenadines and mainland St. Vincent. While the NDP has won the popular vote overall, the governing ULP administration remained the popular choice on the mainland.
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves was sworn in for the fifth time earlier today in a short ceremony at Government House.
