According to Minister Steele, the Keith Mitchell-led government would be issuing a statement shortly on the death of the individual who is from Birchgrove in St. Andrew but was living in the United States.

The man came into the country for the Christmas holiday with his wife with a negative test for Covid-19 but became ill a few days later.

He was taken to a local doctor in Grenville who diagnosed that he had developed pneumonia which looked to be related to Covid-19.

Minister Steele told THE NEW TODAY that the individual was later tested and found out to be positive with the disease and had succumbed to a respiratory health problem.

The individual was a former employee of the Central Water Commission (CWC) which is known as the National Water & Sewerage Authority (NAWASA).

Grenada currently has recorded 127 positive Covid-19 cases since the virus was first detected on the island in March.

This is a fast developing story that is being covered by THE NEW TODAY.
