Labelled a traitor, sources close to the Vincentian Transport Association (VINTAS) this afternoon leaked a voice note believed to be of a Selwyn Adams who proposed withdrawing the service of minibus operators in order to overload his bus.
The driver who we were told ply the Campden Park route lobbied the Association for several days to engage in protest action.
He told fellow operators at the time:
“Only because of my political status why I don’t really push too much or say too much of thing ah nah cause a lot of people go be vex with me ah nah, you understand.”
“It’s just because of my status why I don’t push it because I would have been one of the front line workers…on the battlefield but I just got to rock back. Like I say I can only be an advisor, I can’t really push too much.”
While the driver who also goes by the name “Senard” according to text messages seen by Breadfruit News did not operate his bus yesterday on day one of the protest action, members of the Association were ‘surprised’ that as one of the main voices of the 3 day protest action, “that traitor and snake was observed this morning operating his bus to make quick money. He stabbed us in the back,” said a former colleague.
Others have called on the Executive to remove him from the VINTAS internal WhatsApp communication group.
It is not the first time that Mr Adams has been accused of betraying the Association due to his close political party affiliation.
In the voice note, the well-known personality is heard discussing the strategy to overload his bus if the carrying capacity in increased from 8 to 12 passengers.
Previously, President of VINTAS Royron Adams launched a stinging rebuke of the driver who had called for him to step aside for new leadership in the organisation.
The response of President can he heard here:
VOICE OF PRESIDENT OF VINTAS, MR ROYRON ADAMS
A reduced number of minibus operators are currently participating in day two of the protest action aimed at increasing the minimum number of passengers from 8 to 12.
