The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Commission (OESC) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) conducted a training programme, facilitated by Green Solutions International (GSI) Incorporated – a private training institute based in Saint Kitts and Nevis, to enhance the capacity of Photovoltaic (PV) Installers and Electrical Inspectors in the Eastern Caribbean.
This initiative was designed to support capacity building for PV installers at the national level, with the crucial objective of an internationally accepted certification, particularly in meeting international standards.
This was also aimed at equipping the national service providers to expand their markets to international investors thereby creating more business opportunities within the energy sector.
Thirty-five Vincentians selected from both the public and private sectors received training on solar PV installations throughout the period of August – December 2020.
Four of the candidates selected from the Ministry of Transport and Works, and the SVG Coast Guard received additional specialised training in Solar PV systems inspection (PVSI) which was intended to provide the knowledge and skills needed to ensure safety and adherence to international standards.
All participants completed the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Solar PV Associate (PVA) exam (with four candidates completing the Solar PV Inspection Certificate exam).
Vincentian – Mr. Ricardo Adams – Electrical Engineer and Project Manager was the best overall performer throughout the region.
