At least one man has died under a hail of bullets in a brazen daytime execution-style shooting in the Fish Bay, Tortola, today, March 16, 2021 shortly after 4 p.m.
According to information from various Media Outlets in BVI, the man gunned down in broad daylight has been identified as Deverson Williams, a national of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Reports from Media outlets in BVI indicates that Mr Willliams, a resident of Belle Vue, was the driver of a vehicle heading west when he came under heavy gunfire in the vicinity of International Motors.
Mr Williams suffered multiple gunshot wounds about his body and reportedly died while still in his vehicle.
The gunfire sent nearby workers scurrying for cover in what would have otherwise been a normal working afternoon along a busy roadway.
Within minutes, dozens of persons converged at the scene prior to the police arrival, snapping photos and recording video which were quickly circulated via social media platforms. Investigators subsequently cordoned off the area, preventing traffic from flowing through the scene.
A large number of spent shells were reportedly recovered by police at the scene of the shooting.
This is the fourth gun-related murder in the first quarter of 2021 alone and the third such to have occurred daytime. There have been more than a dozen gun-related incidents as well, some of which have appeared to be very targeted.
Police are said to be reviewing footage taken from CCTV cameras in the area.
