Attorney Grant Connell told the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday that Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves should be approached in relation to what is needed to upgrade the operations of the Court.
Connell, who was representing two nationals of Trinidad and Tobago on immigration charges, commended the move to have his clients answer to the charges via zoom from the Biabou Police Station where they had been quarantined.
Though Connell said the quarantine period was completed, he expressed the view that had it not been for the procedure, via zoom, his clients might have been in custody much longer.
He is of the view that such procedures in relation could be applied to other matters of a similar nature, in the interest of justice, and wondered why the Prime Minister is not being approached on matters like these.
“The Prime Minister is not a beast”, he said.
According to Connell, there is no reason why the Court cannot be equipped in this regard.
