There are some new pictures of the ongoing effusive eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
NEMO in an online post notes that the 2020/2021 dome continues to grow laterally within the crater as it circles the old 1979 dome.
It says conditions were very windy, but its team of technicians and scientists managed to get a few shots and began preparations for the installation of a multi-gas instrument.
Throughout the day NEMO posted updates about the team’s preparations and highlighted that a helicopter from the French Civile Sécurité will be supporting the scientists over the next two days, who will be installing new equipment and collecting samples from the dome.
NEMO has issued thanks to the visiting team from the French Civile Sécurité of Martinique. It notes that it takes a lot of skills to land on the flanks of the volcano during adverse conditions NEMO is hoping for good weather tomorrow as the team continues observations and the installation of equipment.
