GRENADIANS HELD WITH 100 ROUNDS OF AMMO IN ST VINCENT

Two men from Grenada were arrested and charged in St Vincent and the Grenadines for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The accused are Grenadian nationals Nixon Belford, 24, a fisherman and Shaquille Derrick, 25, who is unemployed.  

According to reports on May 9, investigations carried out revealed that Belford had in his possession one pistol without a license issued under the Firearms Act.  

He was also charged with having in his possession five rounds of ammunition, without a license issued under the Firearm Act. 

In addition, Belford was charged along with Shaquille Derrick with having in their possession 100 rounds of ammunition without a license issued under the Firearm Act.  

The incident occurred at Ashton, Union Island on May 6.  

Both men will appear before a Magistrate.
