The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says thanks to our SVG Consulate, New York, under the auspices of Consul General Howie Prince and our Vincentian Diaspora Group, SVG Relief USA, Inc. for assistance with the ongoing relief and recovery efforts following the aftermath of the eruption of the LA Soufrìere Volcano.
The SVG relief USA Inc. is a Vincentian Diaspora group who has been involved in giving back to this country through donations to assist the various sectors including health, education and disaster relief.
Today, the Minister of State with responsibility for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator The Hon. Keisal Peters received the donations from Mr. Olson Dallaway, Consul at the SVG Consulate in New York and representative for the SVG Relief USA Inc.
Minister in her remarks expressed many thanks for the efforts of our Vincentian Diaspora Community for their continuous efforts in mobilizing the various stakeholders to assist with donations of items for aid relief to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The SVG Relief Inc. is a USA-based organization which is the spill off of SVG Community Inc, a committee that was created in 2013 in response to the floods and which donated USD$20,000 and two (2) 40 ft containers of relief supplies in 2014.
The items donated by the SVG Relief USA Inc. today are: 29 power washers, 28 hoses, 325 cots, 23 wheelchairs, 9 Wet Vaccuum Machines, Neublizers and other medical supplies for each clinic in SVG.
