VINCENTIAN SHAD THOMAS IS TOP REBOUNDER

Vincentian- Shad Thomas has risen to the top of the pile in rebounding, in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Championships.

Thomas was able to nose ahead of his nearest rivals when he pulled down 19 rebounds last Sunday night, as his Catawba Valley Community College beat Bryant & Stratton College 88-69, at the Talton Complex, North Carolina, USA. 

His rebounds tally pushed him to 12.4 per game, having played 18 matches for the 2021/2022 season. Thomas is ahead of  Ibrahima Athie of Edison State and Sam Smith of Arkansas State of Mid -South in rebounding.

It was a night of highs for Thomas who plays in the Forward position, as he scored a career high 29 points – his sixth 20-point performance for the season.

Thomas’ statistics show that he has started in 16 matches, registering 26.4 minutes per game. He has an average of 14 assists per game.

The Union Island native, who stands at 6 feet 5 inches, joined Catawba Valley Community College in 2021, after spending two years at the Salem Baptist Christian School (SBCS), also in North Carolina. 

He left St Vincent and the Grenadines for the USA in 2019. He was the first recipient of the Blue Chip Basketball Academy scholarship programme.
