GREIGGS PRIMARY OUT FRONT IN MFA FOOTBALL

When the Memorial Funeral Home Marriaqua Football Association Primary Schools’ Football Competition opened last Monday at the Cane End Playing Field, the Greiggs Primary jumped out in front of the other seven schools.

Greiggs was triumphant in their two fixtures on the day, beating Cane End Government 2-0. Delano Jones netted both goals. Jones was again in fine form, as he smashed a hat trick versus Evesham Methodist, leading his team to a 7-0 win.   Doveson Williams, with two goals and one apiece from Carlton Ottley and Keson Durrant, ensured Greiggs’ dominance.

Meanwhile, Richland Park Government defeated Belmont Primary, 2-1, with  Richland Park’s goals coming from J-Lonnie Stephens and Ryan Williams. Alex Jordan netted for Belmont. Richland Park Government though was held to a 1-1 draw by Marriaqua Government. Dante Caesar scored for Richland Park Government and Jayden Cordice for Marriaqua Government.

Marriaqua Government redeemed themselves on Monday with a 1-0 win over Richland Park Seventh Day Adventist Primary. Malik John hit the winning goal.

Richland Park SDA was coming off a 4-0 win over Belmont Primary. On the score sheet for the SDA outfit were John Prescott, who had a brace, and there was one each from Leon Francis and Johmari Alexander. 

And, Argyle Primary beat Evesham Methodist, 2-0.  Issiah Nelson netted both goals.

Prior to the on-field action, a formal Opening Ceremony featured addresses by President of the Marriaqua Football Association – Yosiah Dascent; Minister of Sports – Hon. Frederick Stephenson; Parliamentary Representative for Marriaqua – Hon. St Clair Prince; President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation – Carl Dickson and Stephen Da Silva of Memorial Funeral Home. 

The competition which intended to have eleven schools participating, has been whittled down to eight, as the Diamond Government, Lauders Government and Lowmans Windward Anglican opted out. 

The competition is set to conclude on Wednesday 13th April.
