PRIME MINISTER GONSALVES TRAVELS TO VENEZUELA FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION

Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Hon Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves yesterday traveled to Venezuela for medical attention.

Gonsalves made the announcement yesterday Sunday 17th April, 2022, while speaking on the issue at hand radio programme hosted by WEFM Radio.

According to PM Gonsalves on Thursday night, he didn’t sleep well, because of an excruciating pain in his right side.

Gonsalves who is 75 years old, said: “I had an excruciating pain on my right side and I went into the hospital on Good Friday, was attended to and looked after quite well”.

The Prime Minister said that the was advised to go and do his full checkup. He noted that he did one last year in July and I was going straight to Cuba, but the Venezuelans insisted that he come there. In fact, the insistence is from the highest level.

“That’s where I am going today. In all probability, I will miss the visit of Prince Edward, Earl of Essex, and his wife, who are coming to St. Vincent for one day on Saturday, you know they are coming on behalf of the Queen,” he said.

Gonsalves further said he had written a letter to the Earl, which will be transmitted by the Cabinet Secretary, Kattian Barnwell-Scott, and that he has also spoken to the Governor-General.

The Prime Minister said that “I just wanted to indicate formally, this is the only place over the weekend that I can make the information known to the public. I didn’t just want to go off and persons hearing second hand.”
