The Earl and Countess of Wessex are expected to skip a planned meeting with the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines tomorrow, as their plans for a royal tour of the Caribbean continue to shrink.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were due to meet Dr Ralph Gonsalves in the capital, Kingstown, but the St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister announced the meeting is unlikely to go ahead due to “medical reasons”.
Dr Gonsalves said he awoke last week with “excruciating pain” on his right side, and had been advised to attend a full medical check-up in Venezuela.
“In all probability, I will miss the visit of Prince Edward … and his wife who are coming to St Vincent for one day on Saturday,” he said.
It is another hiccup in the royal couple’s planned tour of the Caribbean this week, after their trip to Grenada was cancelled yesterday with just one day’s notice.
Edward and Sophie set off on their week-long trip today and are still due to visit St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda.
