Natasha Sandy-Baptiste is the new President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA).

She defeated Semone Richardson in the second round of voting last Monday evening, at the Intermediate High School.

Sandy–Baptiste was able to cause a change in the vote, 17-15 in her favour, following a 16-16 tie in the first round which necessitated a revote.

Taking the post of new First Vice-President is Sylvorn Lewis-Harry, having defeated Juovanie Roberts 19-13 in the vote for that position.

Sharlene Wyllie, though, was returned unopposed as Second Vice-President.

Likewise, Jacintha Ballantyne stays as Treasurer, securing the post with a 21-11 win over Neketo Quammie.

Outgoing President, Doris Mc Intosh, takes up the post of Secretary, after the lone nominee Yasmin Adams declined.

Added to the list of unopposed officers were O’Neil Cockburn as Games Secretary and Sean Frederick as Public Relations Officer.

Thelma Foster and Anella Samuel will serve as Committee Members, both installed without opposition.

President Sandy-Baptiste is no stranger to the Executive of the SVGNA.  She has served as First Vice-President, Secretary and Public Relations Officer in previous administrations.

A Level One Netball Coach, Sandy-Baptiste said she and her Executive are “committed” to serve the sport, adding, “That is our mandate, to serve you; not for you to serve us, but for us to serve you.”

Monday’s Annual General Meeting heard the Executive and Treasurer’s Reports for the last term.

The first order of business of the new executive is the commencement of the Fast 5 Competition, which is set to serve off this Saturday at the Kingstown Netball Centre.
