Members of the Belair Government School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) were out and about in Kingstown on Wednesday, 27th July 2022, with five underprivileged students and their parents to secure funding from various business houses in Kingstown for these students.
As a result of such, they were able to receive a donation from Bridgelyme, an NGO.
BridgeLyme, was formed by a group of friends almost 15 years ago. The organization is known to be doing promotional events periodically.
According to Efu Sargeant of BridgeLyme, the organization decided that they wanted to contribute to the education of some underprivileged students and consulted with the PTA of the Belair Government School to offer five (5) bursaries that would assist these students for the academic year 2022-2023.
We hope to make these donations on a yearly basis to various schools across SVG.
These students are transitioning from Belair Primary School to various Secondary schools throughout St. Vincent.
President of the Belair Government School PTA, Mr Joseph Bascombe, said, “I see it as being necessary to secure funding for these students because I don’t want to see my past students being denied the opportunity for Secondary education simply because their parents could not afford to send them to school.”
