On 21 August 2022, a very successful #T20Cricket match organised by the SVG High Commission and Barbados High Commission in London, U.K., took place at the High Wycombe Cricket Club.

Although the St. Vincent and the Grenadines team did not win this inaugural T20, the Vincentian diaspora remained upbeat and look forward to next year’s event. We take this opportunity to congratulate the Barbados team on their victory.

One Vincentian national said, ‘… although our team did not win, we won the hearts of the Crowd.  As far as I know, there has never been an occasion where so many Caribbean people came out and mingled together…’

A Vincentian Match Volunteer summed up how many nationals felt ‘…It’s about our resilience and determination to achieve.   To rise up and soar with a purpose in our hearts.  The game is incidental to us.  It’s the community coming together using cricket as the focus for this get-together.   It is the most Vincies I have seen together whilst living here in England, and that’s nearly 60 years…’

SVG High Commission would like to thank the players; SVG Tourism Authority for sponsoring the t-shirts for the Vincy team; the major sponsors for the event; the amazing Match Volunteers; the First Aiders, the DJs, the vendors, the umpires; the commentators; High Wycombe Cricket Club; the security. With a special thank you to all those who travelled near and far to be there.

We are looking forward to seeing you next year.
