Yesterday, Thursday 22nd September, 2022, the Barrouallie Technical Institute – Bartech/BTI caught up with Kazil Jessemy, a past student of the Central Leeward Secondary School and the Barrouallie Technical Institute.
He was a part of the team of Electricians from BRAGSA where he is currently employed. The team was on one of their usual school maintenance mission.
Kazil was among the first batch of students to participate in the ÇVQ Electrical Installation level 1 program which we offered to students of our feeder schools in 2018.
Of course, we took the opportunity to get some feedback from him about his choice of career.
Kazil reflected on his decision to pursue a course in Electrical Installation. He said that he always wanted to learn that skill. According to him he was never interested in the other skill areas being offered at the time to Secondary school students, so when offered the opportunity to be among the first batch of CVQ students, he instantly gravitated to it and tried his best to be successful.
According to him, the journey was good but challenging, his greatest challenge was the portfolio completion but he handled the practical sessions well. He credits the steadfastness of his instructor; Ms Utica Francois for his success as he was able to gain Full Qualifications having completed all the required units in the standard. Her patience, knowledge and skills were all he needed and he is now benefitting from that experience in a positive way. It was well worth it.
Kazil beamed with excitement when he explained how it feels to be financially independent. His exact words were; “it feels good, wonderful and great to work for my own money”.
He left some words of advice to the students now pursuing this subject; remain focused, do your best and don’t give up, having a skill is great.
Congratulations Kazil and all the best as you continue to build on your skill.
